The aim of the Harness Safety online training course is to ensure that anyone who uses safety harnesses and lanyards has a comprehensive understanding of the different types available, together with the appropriate Health and Safety knowledge involved in Safety Harness and Lanyards training.
Overview
Approximately 20% of all fatal accidents in the workplace are related to falls from height. Training Courses in this category are related to safety harness. Safety harness training are mainly aimed at operatives who work at height, such as those who work on scaffold, or those who are carrying out roof work.
Courses will vary in content but typical topics covered in safety harness training courses will include:
- The Legislative framework associated with the use of harnesses and fall protection equipment.
- Wearing and use of harnesses and fall arrest equipment
- Harness inspection training
- Maintaining harnesses
- Anchorage points
- Storage of equipment
- Emergency procedures

- Be able to recognise and select the correct PPE in working at heights situations
- Learn how to attach and adjust a lanyard safely
- Be able to examine a MEWP harness and its equipment
- Know how to exhibit their safety awareness skills
- Understand how to inspect the workplace and the equipment needed before using a harness
- Be able to weigh up the requirements for preparing and coordinating the workplace
- Be capable of organising and planning for emergency procedures
